Vash - Moving Slowly Towards Acceptance

Miko - I try to get close to Vash, but he keeps moving away.

Miko - I get close to him and he wops me on the head. Mom says maybe if I stop jumping at him, he'll stop being so testy with me.

Sachi - He won't even let me rub against him. But he lets me share the window. Vash is our brother. Do you think he'll ever love us back?

  1. We're sorry you're having trouble getting accepted by your brother. Maybe if you ignore him, he'll come to you. Do you have a toy you can let him play with?

We are glad, though, that he lets you look out the window together.

  2. At least he lets you come close. Give him time to accept you when he is ready.

  9. Just a bit more patient with Vash (I like his name)--you can tell he's trying..it's happen. I like the photos!

  10. We think Vash will eventually come around. Our cat brother Alex was 20 years old when we came to live here as feisty two month old kittens. We used to drive him crazy. Eventually he accepted and even loved both of us. We love the name Vash! There was a female character on Star Trek named Vash. (Our Mom is a geek!)

  11. Give it time...our brother Nigel is still adjusting and it's almost been a whole year. I do like him now even if he is a bit of a cave man.

  12. It can take awhile, for sure. Hopefully it will happen soon! Just keep trying without being pushy. Or whap him once in awhile... MOL

  13. Some kitties just don't like to be touched by other kitties. My Domino is like that -- she'll swat either of her brothers if they get too close to her. But the two boys will cuddle and groom each other.

I guess it all comes down to the purrsonality! I'm sure Vash loves you, but touching just isn't his thing.

  14. Tristan hisses, growls, and spits at me each time I try to touch her. I'd love to cuddle and lick her, but she just won't allow it. You may be outta luck, furriend:( ~Crikey

  18. We think over time, Vash will love you! Just like when Cricket came to our house early November. Took us a while and Skeeter, being more or less a loner, plays with her all the time, playing chase and stuff. All in good time!

  19. Some kitties aren't cozy-cuddly types, and are slow to warm up to other kitties. I don't think Vash dislikes you guys - he just wants you to hang out near him on his terms.

  23. We have two kitties who do not cooperate in the same room together. I would like to see them peacefully coexist. For now they are in separate rooms all day. But some day I might try more supervised visits. I think Vash will eventually become more accepting of you.

For other folks (I refer to kitties as people) reading this, my blog has stories and information helpful for cat caretakers everywhere.

    All you kitties stay well!

  25. I have not met my 3 BrOTHERS (Gandalf, Grayson and Whitey) yet, but Mom says that even after 6 months Grayson and Whitey still have hissy fits and whapathons. She thinks Grayson may be a little upset that Whitey stoled Gandalf from him. Gandalf and Grayson were together for about 5 years and were inseperable before Whitey.
